PNG: always. JPG: lossless for 90°/180°/270° rotations on most images, with minor quality loss only if dimensions aren't a multiple of 16.
›Can I rotate by arbitrary angles?
Currently 90° increments only. Arbitrary rotation requires re-sampling and quality loss — use a desktop editor for that.
